Sama-Summer Escapade 2008
By Princess Endozo
The DMMC family celebrated its annual company outing on April 4th & 5th 2008 at the Maria Paz Royale Garden Resort in San Pablo City, Laguna.
With the theme “ Sama-Summer Escapade 2008”, the Sports, Recreational and Social Committee, under the Employees Coordinating Council (ECC), organized the event in line with the objectives of giving employees needed respite from work, enhancing camaraderie, and providing time to re-energize.
Indeed, the DMMC family had moments of fun and togetherness as various games were held like Water Relay, Piso sa Pool, and Matira Matibay. Winners of Water Relay were Belinda Sibuyo, Maricel Ricafort, and Dennis Medalla. The champions of Piso sa Pool were Annabel Villegas and Roberto Macaisa, while the victors of Matira Matibay were Edmund Africa and Roma Matanguihan. The idyllic environment enhanced the enjoyment as employees savoured the sumptuous food. Almost everybody forgot all thoughts of diet and calories. To spice up the occasion, a videoke provided the opportunity for the talented staff to showcase their singing prowess. Another event was the search for Best in Summer Outfit which was won by Agnes Malaluan, Roma Matanguihan, and Dennis Medalla.
At the end of the escapade, the DMMC family went back home with renewed vigor ready to face the challenges ahead.
Annual Lenten Retreat
By Princess Endozo and Noli Garcia
In observance of the Lenten Season, the DMMC management gave its employees the opportunity to engage in quiet spiritual introspection. Away from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind, a group of DMMC employees sought spiritual refuge at Tahanan Monica in Tagaytay City from March 13 - 14, 2008.
The Annual Lenten Retreat was facilitated by Fr. Anthony Carlos Esteron, Parish Priest of Calaca, Batangas. The small group, consisting of twenty-one (21) DMMC employees who signed-up for the retreat , received counsel and guidance from the accommodating and affable priest. One representative from each department was allowed to attend and
those employees who had not participated in previous retreats were given priority.
During the retreat, the participants found solace in the activities that included sharing of life experiences. After two days of prayers, readings from scriptures, and meditations, they re-discovered a sense of spiritual renewal. The participants went home knowing that life was a journey that never ends, that there was something wonderful and
greater behind the material facade.
