51st Foundation Anniversary
Full Drive, Double in Five

The engine has been set on maximum gears and running resolutely toward the chequered flag. The battle hymn, resonating like powerful drum-beats, is etched in everybody’s mind and heart---Full Drive, Double in Five !

Focusing on the achievement of strategic goals and commitments, the Daniel O. Mercado Medical Center marked its 51st Foundation Anniversary with a two-day celebration on June 25 & 26, 2008.

The celebration started with a Free Clinic held at the EMMP Building on June 25th as a way of thanking the countless people who continue to patronize the hospital and its services. Free urinalysis and FBS tests were accorded to patients, and in addition free diagnostic tests like BMI, ECG and Diabetic Foot Screening were undertaken at the hospital’s Pro-Health Center. Free medicines, donated by DMMC doctors, were shared during the said activity.

Simultaneously with the Free Clinic, the DMMC Dermatologists held Free Lectures and Open Forum called “Beauty Secrets from Your Dermatologists ”. The lectures touched on popular topics like Skin Whitening by Dra. Eubañas, the Aging Skin by Dra. Cuadra, Laser Treatment for Hair Removal/Skin Tightening by Dra. De Grano, and Eczemas and Skin diseases by Dra. Malabanan.

“ Maraming Salamat Po Sa Inyong Patuloy Na Pagtitiwala ”--- those words emblazoned on the banners, were translated into concrete action as the consultants, doctors, and DMMC staff joined hands in sharing their time, resources, and talents to help indigent patients and faithful patrons. It was indeed an eloquently meaningfulway to show gratitude to the community and to the public.

In the afternoon of June 25th, a video film about 5S was shown at the Nursing Skills Laboratory. The in-house film production kept the audience gaping with astonishment and amusement with its touch of local humor and award-winning performances from the hospital actors and actresses.

The festivities continued on June 26th as the DMMC motorcade, festooned with balloons and banners, plied around the streets of Tanauan City at about 8:00 in the morning. As the motorcade’s sirens and horns resounded across the city streets, the participating hospital employees, doctors and tricycle drivers proudly declared the 51st Foundation Day Anniversary of DMMC. After the motorcade, a Thanksgiving Mass was held at the Hospital Chapel where the DMMC family joined hands in solemn felicitation for all the blessings received and yet to come.

The afternoon of June 26th was reserved for something special---the awards of recognition to outstanding employees and the year’s out-standing physician. The occasion was made more distinguished by the presence of DMMC’s returning President & CEO, Dr. Edwin M. Mercado, Mrs. Soledad V. Mercado and Ms. Arlene Ledesma, Chief Operating Officer. The Employee of the Year and Department Head of the Year Awards were accorded to Ms. Anelyn Lim and Ms. Marigay Mendoza respectively, both coming from the Laboratory Department. The Physician of the Year Honor was bestowed upon Dra. Restita Moncayo. While recognizing the employees and physician who achieved sterling performance, the Awards were more of a challenge to all employees to always give their best shots.

The Foundation Day festivity was climaxed by the Bingo Socials where the DMMC family enjoyed a night of fun, live band music and prizes.

Another milestone. A new call to action, a new sense of commitment and duty had been enshrined in everybody’s heart---giving one’s best to achieve goals. Everybody was eagerly looking forward to the future. Full Drive, Double in Five!
